For a better tomorrow.

Mafia Island, Tanzania

We are not pulling your legs! Mafia Island is located to the South East of Dar Es Salaam, in Tanzania with predominantly Muslim (99%) population of about 55,000. Being an island, most of the residents are fishermen with average household income of USD40 per month. Due to poverty, literacy level is low. There are only 6 secondary schools including Bweni Secondary School that was built by an NGO, Mafia Island Development Foundation MIDEF, that was opened in 2007 with 8 classrooms and 416 students. More than half of the students have to sit on the floor, as there are not enough tables and chairs for everyone! Neither are there enough blackboards, stationeries, etc. The school buildings also need repairs..

Their plights came to PMP attention through Tanzanian High Commissioner HE Dr Ramadhani Dau who is an advisor to MIDEF. As usual, PMP then sought help from the public, in cash and in kinds.

Alhamdulillah with contributions from generous malaysians, 2 containers of used furniture and office equipment were shipped to Mafia Island that  include 256 student chairs with flipped tables, office chairs and desks for teachers, blackboards, photocopier, 2780 Qur’an, 342 copies of Iqra’

Jazaakumullahu khayr wa baarakallahu feekum.

May Allah reward everyone for the kind contributions, with abundance of goodness in this world and the hereafter. Allahumma Aameen[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
