DAKWAH TOUR OF COLOMBIA 2022/23
Do you know that only 0.02% of Colombia’s 51 million population are Muslims? Finding Muslims in this Christian (majority Catholics) nation is like searching a pin in the haystack! Most of the estimated 10.000 Muslims in Colombia are immigrants from Middle East and Asia. The Colombian constitution gives freedom of religion and rights to profess one’s religious beliefs. This motivates us to embark on the first Daawah Mission in 2018…. Alhamdulillah, since then PMP has forged close relationship with Muslims in Bogota, especially Imam Abdul Jamid Sanchez of Mezquita Sunni Estambul, Bogota. There are 3 mosques in Bogota (the other 2 are Mezquita Abou Bakr and Mezquita Qurtubi that are managed by mostly immigrants). Mezquita Sunni Estambul are managed by locals and is very popular amongst reverts! Since our team’s visit and thedakwah taraining conducted then, they actively conduct dakwah, inviting fellow Colombians to Islam. Alhamdulillah the jamaah has now grown to more than 300 and still growiing! In Ramadhan this year 1442H the RM6000 donations PMP wired to them, was used to buy a cow and groceries for iftar (home cooked at the masjid) for the entire month with average attendees about 80 pax every night! This beautiful brotherhood shown by the congregations, attracted 20 Colombians to come into the fold of Islam during that holy month! Allahu Akbar!
This year on Eidul Adha celebration, witnessed another 4 persons embracing Islam including the farmer and his girlfriend from whom the cows (participation through PMP’s campaign) for qurban were purchased! Allahu Akbar!
After 4 years, it’s about time to revisit our brethren in Bogota and expand the dakwah activities to the other bigger cities in Colombia, each with more than 1 million inhabitants Dakwah training, street dakwah, halaqah, muzakarah, interfaith dialogues, radio/TV interviews are amongst the programmes being arranged in every city they visit. The costs for the 3 weeks is estimated RM200,0000 which includes air tickets, accommodation, ground transportation, food and beverages, honorarium etc for the 8 daies. Including Sheikh Muhammad Idrissi from Spain (Colombians speak Spanish) and 2 persons from Lima Peru (both are very active doing dakwah). As of 21st September 2022 PMP has received contributions amounting to an amount of RM60K. Projek PMP terbesar utk tahun ini, biiznillaah, adalah dakwah susulan ke Amerika Latin selepas misi sulung pada tahun 2018. Sejak itu hubungan PMP dgn Masjid Estambul di Bogota terutamanya, menjadi lebih erat. Hasil dari sumbangan kalian, PMP terus membantu mereka didalam kerja2 dakwah mereka. Jauh dimata, namun dekat dihati – keindahan Islam yang sejati! Alhamdulillah sejak itu lebih ramai rakyat tempatan telah memeluk Islam.
Di atas permintaan mereka utk membantu memantapkan ilmu tenaga pengajar serta saudara baru di sana, sepasukan dai’e akan ke 4 bandar terbesar Bogota, Cali, Medellin dan Barranquilla selama 3 minggu pd Disember 2022 melakukan latihan dakwah, dakwah jalanan, dialog antara agama dengan pemimpin Kristian (dan jemaah), Halaqah & muzakarah bersama pemimpin Muslim tempatan. Kos perbelanjaan diperlukan sebanyak RM200 ribu. Sumbangan yang diterima setakat 21 Sept 2022 adalah sebanyak RM60 ribu.
